This year the annual Brixton Windmill Festival and Parade will take place on Sunday 22 June.
The theme of this year's parade is "Poppies & Prams", so do wear something red. Also, come with any sort of wheeled contraption, preferably decorated, that you can push up Brixton Hill. It doesn't have to be a pram; it could be a trolley, a bike or a wheelbarrow, or even a sofa on castors!
Steel bands and samba music will accompany the parade on its journey from Brixton up to Blenheim Gardens. The parade will arrive at the windmill at 2pm and signal the start of the festival!
The festival offers the usual mix of children's activities, stalls and world music. Brixton City Farm will be back with its hands-on animal experience, and a super bouncy castle will keep the kids entertained. Children can also take part in games and competitions, art activitis and free workshops.
If you're hungry, you can choose from a wide range of food stalls: fresh bread, ice cream and other refreshments will cater to all tastes. For a mix of drama and history, the Brixton Windmill Theatre Company will be performing a play all about the windmill.
On the other hand, if all you want to do is relax, sit back and listen to the music! We have some new local acts, together with some old favourites. This year, for the first time ever, we've even got Cossack dancers!
Please meet at Windrush Square at 12.30pm. The parade will leave Windrush Square at 1pm, arriving at Windmill Gardens at 2pm. The festival will start at 2pm and continue until 5pm.
